Use a Thermometer!
When it comes to cooking pork perfectly, the most important kitchen tool is a meat thermometer. It can be a simple dial thermometer, an instant read thermometer or a remote, digital thermometer. Pork is tastiest when cooked no higher than 160°F.
The Right Supplies.
Pork cooking is easier when you have the right equipment, so stock your kitchen with these essentials:
- Shallow pans or rimmed baking sheet (10 x15-inches or larger) for roasting;
- Large Dutch oven (5 quart) for braising and stewing;
- Tongs for grilling and barbecuing; and
- Basting brush or mop for applying sauces on roasts, chops and ribs.
Pink = Perfect!
Pork is best cooked to medium doneness or to an internal temperature of 160°F, which leaves the center pink and juicy.
