Our Family of Pork Producers

Indiana Packers Corporation believes there are many benefits to be gained by coordinated production.  The producers we partner with are local (eastern cornbelt), family owned farms whose livelihood depends on producing a needed, quality product.  Our role as their partner helps us get the quality pork we are looking for, while supporting area farmers.

Indiana Packers works closely with our producers to help them produce a high quality product. Our close working relationship allows us to educate our producers as to the specifics of what the consumer is expecting from IPC products.

Indiana Packers Corporation has a Food Safety Initiative program in place and requires participation in the National Pork Board’s PQA Plus ® program in order to help our pork producers to meet today’s consumer demands for quality and safety. This program directly addresses issues such as the health and welfare of the livestock.   Additional relevant areas that we monitor are:
  • Drug Residues - IPC conducts continuous laboratory testing of its livestock in order to assure the efficacy of our programs and products.  With the new standards for the Japan market, following the Maximum Residue Limits [MRL] for swine production will give the consumer confidence the pork products that are purchased are safe and wholesome.
  • Feed - IPC encourages all producers to maintain a balanced feeding program that will ensure the highest of meat quality and a superior eating experience. A diet of corn and bean meal with the essential vitamins will enhance the growth potential and efficiency of the livestock.
  • Animal Welfare - Our producers and transporters are required to be trained in the proper handling of livestock from the beginnings of life through the transportation to IPC’s plant.  IPC requires all transporters the facility to be Transport Quality Assurance Certified [TQA] prior to delivering livestock to the plant. Transporters are regularly audited to ensure performance and plant compliance.  Additional, we have a strict zero tolerance policy in place for employees and transporters regarding the humane handling of livestock.

These programs result in a comprehensive working relationship between Indiana Packers and its producers and they ensure products in which the consumer can be confident of the safety, quality, and wholesomeness of our pork products.

Indiana Packers can and does proudly tell its consumers, along with our customers/stores carrying our product that our pork is home grown, locally raised by family farms and proud of it.
